چکیده

A 17-year old man was referred with Syncope. Echocardiography suggested a mass in the main pulmonary artery. A comprehensive cardiac magnetic resonance was performed. The mass was attached to the intima of the pulmonary artery. The diagnosis of thrombus was excluded. Finally, the mass was resected successfully and pathology confirmed the diagnosis (Fig. 1, Supplementary Videos S1 and S2). Supplementary material (Videos 1 and 2) is available at EJCTS online. Video S1: Axial steady-state free precession cine showed a large mass attached to the intima of the pulmonary main artery which swung during the cardiac cycle. Video S2: Sagittal views showed that the mass consisted of two different characteristic parts located above the pulmonary valve; the pulmonary valve was not affected.

Diagnosis of Meningitis Caused by Pathogenic Microorganisms Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging: A Systematic Review

Introduction: Bacterial meningitis is an acute infectious inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain. Its early diagnosis is vital because of its high morbidity and mortality. It is mostly diagnosed by a gold standard diagnostic tool i.e. Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) analysis. However, it is sometimes difficult and or impossible to do this procedure and an alternative diagnostic t...

Multiparametric MRI in differentiating pulmonary artery sarcoma and pulmonary thromboembolism: a preliminary experience.

PURPOSE We aimed to define multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings to differentiate between pulmonary artery sarcoma (PAS) and pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE). METHODS Eleven patients with suspected PTE were prospectively included to undergo pulmonary MRI before surgery or biopsy. MRI protocol included an unenhanced sequence, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI, b=800 s/mm2) and...

Single coronary artery with anomalous origin of right coronary artery from distal left circumflex artery

Introduction A coronary artery anomaly (CAA) is a congenital defect of one or more coronary arteries of the heart in terms of origin, number, course and termination of the artery. The exact mechanism of CAA development is not elucidated yet. CAA is associated with some other congenital heart diseases like tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of great arteries and pulmonary valve atresia. Most CAA...

Spindle-cell sarcoma involving the major pulmonary arteries.

Primary pulmonary vasculature tumors are exceptionally rare, with only a few reported cases. Signs and symptoms of such neoplasms vary but include dyspnea, cough, and chest pain. This condition is associated with a high mortality rate and is easily misdiagnosed as a pulmonary artery embolism. We pre-sent a case of pulmonary artery sarcoma that demonstrates the value of cardiac magnetic resonanc...
